Russian-Dating is advertised as a 100% free dating site. You will be able to find women from Russia, Ukraine and other countries in Eastern Europe. We have yet to find an International dating site that is this liberal with cost. As a part of our research of the site, we will go over all the fine print of Russian-Dating.

From the homepage, you can tell the design and layout of the site is simple. Perhaps, too simple. They don’t really have an “About Us” section like other sites so it was difficult for us to know more about Russian-Dating. On the left hand side, you can do a quick search based on gender, age and country. You can also view how many men and women are online.

We did notice that the numbers for who is online changes so that is a good sign. That means the data is always populating current information. You can also see a few profiles right from the homepage, while some other sites want you to either pay or sign-up first. 

When we clicked on the “Join Now & Start Dating Today!” link, it took us to a registration page. Russian-Dating could definitely highlight this registration link better to make it stand out. At first glance, we kind of skimmed right over the link.

From the first page of registration, you are able to select your gender, country, username and email. Upon moving to the second page, there was a little bit more detail to fill out.

While looking at the fine print, we did not like what you would have to take responsibility for. Russian-Dating states that “you take full responsibility and risks connected to use of materials, information, advertising, goods and services received by him or her via Internet network, including undesirable materials or materials containing information that is personally offensive to you.”

It sounds like Russian-Dating wants you to be responsible for the person you are talking to and what they send to you. It goes on to further state that you are responsible for all information that he or she puts into a profile. These statements made us wonder what kind of people we would actually be talking to and what they would be sending to us. And if that person sends us unfavorable pictures, Russian-Dating has a very hands-off approach. In terms of protection, it seems as if Russian-Dating does nothing to protect its users. 

Upon clicking “Finish,” you will see the final page of registration. The confirmation email we received was very basic and provided our username, profile ID and password.

The registration process was simple. However, we did not get a sense that Russian-Dating would go above and beyond to protect us if something happened while on the site. Now, let’s move on to profiles.

In discussing profiles, you are able to click on profiles from the homepage or from the gallery. The quality of the profile pictures could be improved. When we explored the profile in more detail, it tells you helpful information about your interest. Russian-Dating also lets you know when your interest last logged in and when their photo was added. You can view one profile picture without being logged in, but to view more pictures, you have to login. You also need to be logged in to send messages.

In our investigation, we did not see any features for Russian-Dating. They do not have a mobile app and they don’t offer video chat or live chat. This is very inconvenient for you as a user because you won’t be able to see your interest in real time. It is incredibly important for international dating sites to have video capability so each user can verify they are talking to a real person. The fact that Russian-Dating doesn’t offer any video features raises a red flag. The only feature of the site we could find is that you can add your interest as a favorite and send her a message. It seems that you get what you pay for in this case.

While most dating sites may have a free trial or free membership with very limited features, Russian-Dating is completely free. They even go as far as to say “you don’t need a credit card when you use our free dating site.” We were able to send messages, add our interests to favorites and view more pictures with just our profile ID and password. Russian-Dating was right when they said their site was 100% free. We were skeptical of this in the beginning, but now we see that you really don’t have to pay a dime on this site.
